hmmm...

I was in NYC for Thanksgiving and had a fabulous time! I went with my best friend and had dinner with my brother and his girlfriend on Thursday. It was amazing and we had a great feast! While I was in NYC, I saw the windows at SAKS my brother worked on! He graduated from Purdue with a graphic design degree, and he is very talented! It was so neat seeing the windows this year in NYC; I've always wanted to. It was impressive seeing the different ways technology was used. The snowflakes and stars in some of the windows flew around and even talked! The mouths moved and went with the sentences they were saying. It was very neat. Last year the windows were interactive with the viewers; unfortunately I didn't get to see those, but apparantly viewers could press certain buttons for the windows to do certain things. It is really neat seeing the different types of effects tecnology has on all sorts of things anymore; who would have thought Christmas windows would have talking snowflakes and flying stars?!

oops!

I keep forgetting to blog! I am not used to blogging, even after having this for class. I write myself notes, but they just get lost in the shuffle!

Anyways, earlier this week in recitation we talked about our technology presentation. I have no idea what I am going to present on! There are always new things coming out, it's hard to keep up. And if I find something I like, chances are I find out about something more interesting! I know I have to have my idea by Nov 30. But with the holidays and all of the traveling I'll be doing, I hope that I remember to have it turned in!

Speaking of the holidays, I can't believe I will be traveling to DC and NYC this Thanksgiving! I am so excited. I have heard recently that the internet is not available on airplanes! I don't understand how but I think it's amazing. I hope that I can get my Ipod or something to connect! That would be crazy.

Re-Cell

First, I just want to say how proud I am of my group for winning the presentation competition the other day! We had to present on a recent technology, write a summary and have a visual as well as answer questions from a panal of judges! We worked very well together and I was happy to hear how well we did.

Anyways, re-cell is actually a really neat new technology. (re-cell spray is what we presented on) It is a spray that is used on second-degree burns on the human body and works by taking a very small biopsy of the skin and processed right on the operating table. The doctor then takes what was processed and sprays it on the burn and the healing begins. It is much safer than skin graffes and eliminates the need for scar surgerys. I think it is definitely something that needs more research done; this new technology can help many people in many different ways.

WLFI interview

http://www.wlfi.com/dpp/community/18_interviews/18interviews_wlfi_purdue

For another class of mine, I am in a group and we have a real client we are doing PR and Advertising work for. We were scheduled to do a live interview for WLFI about our client! We were on then noon news. It was very exciting and neat to see how it works behind the scenes. The cameras were being moved where they needed to be for a good view of the broadcasters...but were controlled from someone in another room! It was crazy. I definitley enjoyed seeing how advanced it is behind scenes. We got to see how they do the weather in front of a green screen, also pretty neat. It makes me wonder how advanced everything will be years from now.
